Amie Peterson — First Responder Mental Health & Operational Wellness Expert | Speaker | Trainer | Consultant
Amie Peterson is a First Responder mental health and operational wellness expert, speaker, trainer, and trauma specialist. She provides evidence-informed training on operational stress, trauma, PTSD, sleep, fatigue, burnout, resilience, and career longevity for law enforcement, fire, EMS, dispatch, corrections, military, veterans, healthcare professionals, and other high-stress occupations.
Built for the People Who Do Hard Jobs
Amie’s connection to First Responder culture began long before her professional career.
She comes from a multigenerational law enforcement family with more than 100 years of combined service. Her father served in law enforcement for 34 years, retiring as Chief of Police. Growing up in a law enforcement family gave Amie a firsthand understanding of something that would eventually shape her career:
The job doesn’t always stay at work.
It can show up in sleep, relationships, hypervigilance, exhaustion, emotional numbing, and the ability—or inability—to shut the brain off after a shift.
Sometimes it is the call, case, patient, scene, or decision that stays with someone long after everyone else has moved on.
That understanding became the foundation for Amie’s work with people whose careers require them to repeatedly navigate trauma, responsibility, uncertainty, human suffering, critical incidents, shift work, chronic stress, and high-consequence decisions.
EXPERIENCE BEHIND THE EDUCATION
Amie brings a combination of clinical expertise, organizational experience, and cultural understanding to her work as a speaker and trainer.
Her professional background spans behavioral health, trauma treatment, substance use treatment, inpatient psychiatric care, veteran mental health services, private practice, First Responder mental health, critical incident response, peer support education, agency consultation, and organizational wellness programming.
Throughout her career, Amie has worked directly with and alongside professionals in law enforcement, fire service, EMS, dispatch, corrections, military and veteran communities, healthcare, behavioral health, and other high-stress professions.
Her clinical work also provides a perspective that cannot be gained from research alone:
What happens after years of doing the job.
That experience allows Amie to bridge two worlds:
The science of mental health and the reality of the job.
Amie’s clinical expertise includes trauma, PTSD, operational stress, cumulative trauma, sleep disruption, burnout, and the psychological impact of high-stress careers. Her clinical training informs her speaking and education while allowing her presentations to remain practical, accessible, and relevant outside the therapy room.
The Story of Thin Line 206
Why 206?
The number 206 represents where this work began.
Amie’s father spent 34 years in law enforcement and retired as Chief of Police.
His badge number was 206.
Amie grew up watching what service, leadership, responsibility, and integrity looked like both in uniform and at home. When she created Thin Line 206, she wanted the name to represent both the people she serves and the values behind the work.
What began as specialized mental health work with First Responders has grown to include clinical services, agency consultation, organizational wellness initiatives, professional training, education, and speaking.
Today, the mission behind 206 reaches beyond one profession:
Support the people we depend on to perform when the stakes are high.
WHAT I BELIEVE ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH & OPERATIONAL WELLNESS
A Different Conversation About Mental Health
Mental health education for high-stress professions shouldn't begin and end with PTSD.
There is an entire spectrum between “I'm fine” and being in crisis.
Operational stress, poor sleep, fatigue, hypervigilance, cumulative exposure, irritability, burnout, compassion fatigue, relationship strain, emotional numbing, and difficulty transitioning home can develop long before someone identifies what they are experiencing as a mental health concern.
Amie believes understanding these responses earlier creates opportunities for prevention, early intervention, practical skill development, and healthier careers.
The goal is to help change the conversation:
From crisis intervention → to prevention.
From stigma → to understanding.
From “What's wrong with you?” → to “What has this job required from you?”
From mental health as weakness → to operational wellness as part of professional readiness and career longevity.

Amie Peterson
As the daughter of a retired Police Chief who served for 34 years, I grew up inside the culture, not just beside it. With over 17 years of experience in the mental health field, I have dedicated my career to the treatment of trauma, substance use, and the unique needs of First Responders, healthcare professionals, and veterans. I understand the weight of the job in a way that doesn’t need translation. You don’t have to explain it. I already get it.
In 2020, I began noticing a sharp increase in the toll the profession was taking on our First Responders. Calls were heavier, the stress was higher, and the ripple effect on families was undeniable. At the same time, mental health appointment waitlists were running anywhere from 6–9 months. I knew this field couldn’t wait that long. Because of my expertise in trauma and my passion for serving this community, I had to act. I created Thin Line 206 as an educational platform to break down mental health in ways that made sense for First Responders. Shortly after, I launched my own private practice—Thin Line Therapy 206—exclusively dedicated to First Responders and Healthcare Professionals. Since then, I’ve expanded my work to include consultation, trainings, and department-wide education with one mission in mind: improving the lives of those who serve.
I’ve walked alongside officers, dispatchers, firefighters, EMS, healthcare workers, and their families through the hardest moments. Line-of-duty deaths, critical incidents, sleep loss, moral injury, and the “I’m fine” mask that feels impossible to take off. My role is to provide a space where you don’t have to filter your reality. Thin Line Therapy 206 is built for the culture, backed by the experience, and delivered with respect, because that’s exactly what this work requires.
That’s why when it came to naming my practice, I wanted something that represents both where I come from and who I serve.Â

Analizeth "Anali" PesqueiraÂ
Anali is a bilingual clinician (English/Spanish) who brings warmth, creativity, and expertise to her work with children and teens. Her background includes specialized experience in forensic interviewing through Child Protective Services, which has given her a deep understanding of how trauma, trust, and communication shape a child’s world. She utilizes play therapy and expressive approaches to help young clients process difficult experiences, build emotional awareness, and develop coping skills in ways that feel natural and empowering.
Anali has a particular passion for supporting first responder families, where stress, shift work, and the weight of the job often impact the whole household. She helps kids and teens build resilience, process emotions, and find healthy ways to express what’s often hard to put into words.
Her approach is genuine, collaborative, and grounded in connection — meeting each child and family where they are, and helping them move toward healing, growth, and stronger relationships.
Built for the Culture. Backed by the Experience. Delivered with Respect.
